DISTANCE LEARNING NGC

Distance Learners work through our specially designed study guide and take notes; handing in assignments via email.

Included in the final price is the registration fee, exam fee, all course materials and designated tutor access.

OPTION 1

Candidates with work experience in any industry and any discipline for more than 3 years can register automatically for the course by clicking APPLY NOW. 

OPTION 2

Candidates with limited work experience can also register by sending their CV to courses@kbaeurope.org for verification and approval.

REMARKS

1. 20% VAT is add for all UK course candidates enrolling with KBAE. Other countries shall be notified of applicable taxes if appropriate.

2. Course books once full course fee is paid can be collected in advance free of charge from our Training Centre in Altens, Aberdeen, Scotland. If a candidate would like it couriered this can only be done THREE weeks before and courier charges will be applicable.  Course books for full time courses cannot be sent via the normal postal service unless on mainland UK and within THREE weeks of the course.

3. Distance learning courses are granted for a period of 12 months. During this period any changes to the syllabus will be informed via email or as appropriate. After 12 months; materials will not be updated unless candidates formally request an extension which is chargeable at GBP30.00 for another 6 months. Candidates can take upto FIVE years to sit the examination once enrolled.

4. Candidates are required to give a MINIMUM of FOUR weeks’ notice regarding their preferred examination date if they wish to sit at the end of a set course date (confirmed course) at our Centre in Aberdeen. The GBP92.50 NEBOSH examination fee is automatically included in the final price once. If a candidate needs to re-sit then this fee is chargeable again.

5. Candidates who require to sit their examination on a global examination date worldwide are required to inform courses@kbaeurope.org by the formal registration date who will arrange for an additional fee of GBP100.00 + venue fee. Global examinations dates are set four times per year in March, June, September and December.

6. All bank charges are the responsibility of the sender. Any shortfall will be requested. Please note that PAYPAL will add 4% automatically onto the final fee.

7. For NEBOSH registration candidates will be contacted via email once they have completed the online registration form and requested to send their ID (passport or formal government photo ID) and OHS certificate copy.

8.  Candidates will not be enrolled in the unit examination until all course work or minimum attendance has been achieved and tutor approval has been given.

E-LEARNING OPTION GC2 & 3 ONLY

E-learners work through our specially designed computer software via the internet and take notes. This course is for the both the National and International versions.  It is the same unit

Included in the final price is the registration fee (IT access), all online course materials available on portal and designated tutor access.

All e-learning materials are provided via our KBAT learning portal http://school.kbatraining.org and managed by KBAT www.kbatraining.org

OPTION 1

Candidates should ideally possess a formal qualification in Occupational Health and Safety such as the NEBOSH HSW or equivalent. If you have such a qualification you can register automatically for the course by clicking APPLY NOW. You will be asked to send a copy of your qualification on final registration.

OPTION 2

Candidates with 3 years’ experience in any industry and any discipline can also register automatically for the course by clicking APPLY NOW. You may be asked to send a copy of your CV on final registration.

OPTION 3

Candidates with limited general work experience should send their CV to safetyadmin1@kbassociates.org for verification and approval or consider the NEBOSH HSW or IOSH Managing Safely course first.

REMARKS

1. 7% GST is added for all Singapore applicants enrolling with KBAT. If you resided outwith this area it will be deducted at the invoice and final payment stage.

2. A course book can be purchased separately for SGD$170.00 and will be sent via standard mail to all Singapore and UK/Eire applicants. If you would like it delivered by courier this shall be charged at cost. Course books once paid for can also be collected free of charge from our Changi Training Centre, Singapore or Altens, Aberdeen Scotland. Other countries will be informed of their courier charge.

3. E-learning courses are granted for a period of 3 months per Unit. During this period any changes to the syllabus will updated to the portal automatically. After 3 months access will be automatically stopped unless candidates formally request an extension which is chargeable at SGD$60.00 (GBP30.00) for another 3 months. Candidates can take upto FIVE years to sit the examination once enrolled.

4. Candidates are required to give a MINIMUM of FOUR weeks’ notice regarding their preferred examination date if they wish to sit at the end of a set course date (confirmed course) at our Centre in Aberdeen. The GBP142.50 NEBOSH examination fee is automatically included in the final price once. If a candidate needs to re-sit then the GBP92.50 per unit is chargeable again.

Candidates who require to sit their examination on a global examination date worldwide are required to inform safetyadmin1@kbassociates.org by the formal registration date who will arrange for an additional fee of SGD$200.00  (GBP100.00) + venue fee. Global examinations dates are set four times per year in March, June, September and December.

Candidates who require reasonable adjustment time for the NEBOSH examination or special consideration must formally request this additional time/assistance before the examination registration closing date. KBAT/KBAE cannot guarantee that adjustment time will be given if not received BEFORE commencement of course and closure of register.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The NEBOSH National General Certificate (NGC) in Occupational Health & Safety is a national recognized health and safety qualification from an established independent examination board with over 25 years' experience in providing up-to-date and relevant examinations. The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) is registered in United Kingdom. ( For more details, see www.nebosh.org.uk )

This course has been developed for multinational organisations in all UK sectors, mindful of national standards or directives and at the same time adaptive to local needs. It seeks to provide an excellent underpinning knowledge of health and safety, as well as a sound basis for evaluating (and managing) potential hazards and risks. The syllabus incorporates international, technical and other standards where they exist. In other cases, requirements and practices that represent 'good practice' are followed.

COURSE CONTENT

The contents of the course are covered in two units (NEW Syllabus) and their applications are practiced and tested in the third unit :-

UNIT NGC 1: Management of National Health & Safety

  • Foundations in health and safety
  • Health and safety management systems 1 - Policy
  • Health and safety management systems 2 - Organising
  • Health and safety management systems 3 - Planning
  • Health and safety management systems 4 - Measuring, audit and review

UNIT NGC 2: Control of National Workplace Risks

  • Workplace hazards and risk control
  • Transport hazards and risk control
  • Musculoskeletal hazards and risk control
  • Work equipment hazards and risk control
  • Electrical safety
  • Fire safety
  • Chemical and biological health hazards and risk control
  • Physical and psychological health hazards and risk control

UNIT NGC3: International Health & Safety Practical Application

The completion of a health & safety assessment of a workplace and a report to management will be carried out at the candidate's workplace within 14 days of course completion.

The NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) follows the same principles as the National General Certificate - achieving high standards of health and safety - regardless of any local legal requirements.

Examinations are held on the last day of the course or for distance learners four times per year at any British Council or participating university/Centre.

COURSE ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION

Candidates are assessed by an examination for each unit : NGC 1; NGC 2 and NGC 3 (a practical health & safety assessment of a workplace situation ). Each exam is 2 hours in duration. Candidates must achieve a minimum pass standard in all the examinations and assessment to be awarded the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health. Certification is issued by NEBOSH UK.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Holders of the NEBOSH International General Certificate are eligible for membership of the following professional organisations, subject to their meeting the necessary post-qualification experience requirements:

  • Institution of Occupational Safety and Health - Tech IOSH
  • International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) - Associate Member

Holders of the National General Certificate are entitled to:

  • Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technical Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH and Associate Membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
  • The NEBOSH National General Certificate has been accredited and credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). It sits in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at SCQF Level 6 with 15 SCQF credit points.
