Distance Learners work through our specially designed study guide and take notes; handing in assignments via email.

Included in the final price is the registration fee, exam fee, all course materials and designated tutor access.

To achieve the FULL qualification candidates must also hold the NEBOSH NGC1 qualification unit.

OPTION 1

Candidates with work experience in fire safety or general safety for more than 2 years and hold the NEBOSH NGC1 or full NGC can register automatically for the course by clicking APPLY NOW. A copy of your NGC1 or full NGC qualification will be requested on formal enrolment. The NGC1 qualification must have been completed within a five year period.

OPTION 2

Candidates without NGC1 can also register but will need to complete NGC1 first before attempting NFC1 and FC2 examinations. Please look at our bundle offers and book this option.

OPTION 3

Candidates with limited work experience but hold the NEBOSH NGC can also register by sending their CV to courses@kbaeurope.org for verification and approval.

REMARKS

1. 20% VAT is add for all UK course candidates enrolling with KBAE. Other countries shall be notified of applicable taxes if appropriate.

2. Course books once full course fee is paid can be collected in advance free of charge from our centre in Altens, Aberdeen, Scotland.  If a candidate would like it couriered this can only be done THREE weeks before and courier charges will be applicable.  Course books for full time courses cannot be sent via the normal postal service unless within mainland UK and within THREE weeks of course.

3. Distance learning courses are granted for a period of 12 months. During this period any changes to the syllabus will be informed via email or as appropriate. After 12 months; materials will not be updated unless candidates formally request an extension which is chargeable at GBP30.00 for another 6 months. Candidates can take upto FIVE years to sit the examination once enrolled.

4. Candidates are required to give a MINIMUM of FOUR weeks’ notice regarding their preferred examination date if they wish to sit at the end of a set course date (confirmed course) at our Centre in Aberdeen. The GBP92.50 NEBOSH examination fee is automatically included in the final price once. If a candidate needs to re-sit then this fee is chargeable again.

5. Candidates who require to sit their examination on a global examination date worldwide are required to inform courses@kbaeurope.org by the formal registration date who will arrange for an additional fee of GBP100.00 + venue fee. Global examinations dates are set four times per year in March, June, September and December.

6. All bank charges are the responsibility of the sender. Any shortfall will be requested. Please note that PAYPAL will add 4% automatically onto the final fee.

7. For NEBOSH registration candidates will be contacted via email once they have completed the online registration form and requested to send their ID (passport or formal government photo ID) and OHS certificate copy.

8.  Candidates will not be enrolled in the unit examination until all course work or minimum attendance has been achieved and tutor approval has been given.

5. Candidates who require reasonable adjustment time for the NEBOSH examination or special consideration must formally request this additional time/assistance before the examination registration closing date. KBAT/KBAE cannot guarantee that adjustment time will be given if not received BEFORE commencement of course and closure of register.

NFC1 EXAMINATION

RE-SIT ONLY CANDIDATES

Registration will only be accepted from KBAE NEBOSH NFC candidates who have approval from their tutor (obtained when all assignments or tuition has been completed). This fee is included in the initial cost of the course.

This fee is for ONE unit only.

All candidates should arrive by 1300 on the day of the examination. The exam will be 2 hours and finish at 1600.

Candidates whose first language is not English may be entitled to Reasonable Adjustment and be given an extra 30 minutes. They must inform KBAE before the examination as NEBOSH approval must be sought. RA candidates will require a hard copy dictionary for use during the examination.

The NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management is a new qualification for those with fire safety responsibilities in the workplace.

The NEBOSH National Fire Certificate course is split into three units of study, each of which is assessed separately:

UNIT NFC1: Fire Safety and Risk Management

  • Managing Fire Safety
  • Principles of Fire and Explosion
  • Causes and Prevention of Fires
  • Fire Protection in Buildings
  • Safety of People in the Event of a Fire
  • Fire Safety Risk Assessment

UNIT NFC2: Workplace-Based Practical Assessment (Fire Risk Assessment)

Note * - If you have been awarded a NEBOSH International General Certificate in the last 5 years you will be exempt from IGC1 and can simply 'top up' with the specialist unit and practical assessment to achieve the new award.

HOW IS IT ASSESSED?

The course is assessed through written examinations for each of the units and a practical fire risk assessment. A unit certificate is issued denoting successful achievement of each unit. After successful completion of the two units and practical assessment, you will attain the certificate of NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.

Examinations are held on the last day of the course or for distance learners four times per year at any British Council or participating university.

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Holders of the National Fire Certificate are entitled to:

  • Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH and Associate Membership (AIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
  • Technician Membership (TIFPO) of the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers (IFPO) and the qualification meets the academic requirements for Associate Membership (AMIFPO). Persons with the relevant skills and experience may also apply to join the IFPO Fire Risk Assessors Register.
  • The NEBOSH National Fire Safety Certificate has been accredited and credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). It sits in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at SCQF Level 6 with 13 SCQF credit points.

    SCQF Level 6 is comparable to NQF/QCF Level 3 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. See the “Qualifications Can Cross Boundaries” chart issued by the UK regulators, available here.

LEARNING OPTIONS

  • FULL TIME TRAINING
    Full Time training will be delivered face to face over a 5-day period with examinations on the final day or Saturday.
  • E-LEARNING
    E-learning is delivered via our interactive portal over a three month period per unit (options to extend). More details are available on www.kbatraining.org who manage this training portal.
  • DISTANCE LEARNING
    Distance learning is delivered via hardcopy KBAT course materials and email contact with the tutor for assignments over a 12 month period (options to extend).
  • COMBINED LEARNING
    This option combines e-learning and distance learning so candidates have access to our interactive portal and hardcopy course materials. More details are available on www.kbatraining.org who manage this training portal.

BLENDED LEARNING

This is a combination of full time with e-learning/distance options to aid the learning experience.
